Hall’s Creek Villages are designed as an integrated lifestyle community. That is to say, it will be a complete community, with places to live, work and play, all within walking distance of each other. The inherent theme is real and meaningful sustainability. Environmental and contemporary technologies will combine to meet the needs of Hall’s Creek's residents and visitors.
SOCIAL SUSTAINABILITY
A community is much, much more than its physical form. A community is composed of people as well as the places where they live; it is as much a social environment as a physical environment. Thus, communities must not only be environmentally sustainable, they must also be socially sustainable.
ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY
The guiding principles of SYNERGY Urban Villages Inc. are:
• To be environmental stewards of the land
• To foster City living in a nature park setting
• To build smart-designed, passive solar, highly efficient homes and businesses
• To create mixed-density and lifetime housing options for changing social needs
• To support commercial and residential mixed-use village centres with daily amenities
• To integrate renewable energy technologies at both the individual and community levels
ECONOMIC SUSTAINABILITY
Both social sustainability and environmental sustainability require a system of economic activity that is compatible with and not destructive of either the ecological or social webs of life. Over 100 jobs will be created during the various phases of the project. Upon completion, the project will add approximately $4-million to the tax base of the City of Moncton.
